Kendall Jenner is trying to distance herself from her famous Kardashian/Jenner family in an effort to make it as a serious model.
Jenner, 19, spoke to ABC’s “Nightline,” where she admitted that she’s trying to make a name for herself despite being a part of a family that is in the news constantly and in tabloid magazines.
“I’m not trying to use a family or anything,” Jenner said. “In reality, I worked pretty hard for this … It wasn’t like I just got it magically and it just happened.”
According to Yahoo, Jenner’s hard work has definitely paid off. The young model was named the brand ambassador and new face of cosmetics line Estée Lauder.
“Estée Lauder is one of the most prestigious brands in our entire business,” said Jenner’s modeling agent, Chris Gay, of The Society Management. “They are very careful when they choose and select a model … To actually wrap up a deal like that within your first year, is unheard of.”
In hopes of making a name for herself, Jenner had dropped her last name form her modeling cards and even told older sister Kim Kardashian not to appear at her runway shows.
“It was more of a mutual understanding,” Jenner clarified. “I remember getting a phone call from Kim … ‘I just wanted to let you know, I got an invite to the Marc show. I don’t think it’s a good idea that I go. Do you agree?’ And I was like, ‘I completely agree’ … She obviously is who she is, and it would’ve taken the attention away from me.'”
Jenner revealed that she always looked up to famous supermodels and hopes she can become a role model for young girls as well.
