WTI Crude Oil The WTI Crude Oil market fell significantly during the course of the day on Monday, breaking below the $32 level. The fact that we closed towards the bottom of the candle of course suggests that we are going to see quite a bit of bearish pressure, and as a result I believe that were going to try to reach towards the $30 handle. Any bounce at this point in time should attract sellers though, so I think that’s a selling opportunity as well on short-term candles and show signs of resistance. I have no interest in buying this market at this point. I see a massive amount of resistance all the way to at least the $40 level, so at th...
Systemic fragility doesn’t respond to central bank jawboning or Keynesian claptrap; unlike those “policy tools,” fragility is real. The core narrative of central bank/cartel capitalism is centralized agencies have the power to limit downturns and extend credit-based “good times” almost indefinitely. The centralized power bag of tricks includes fiscal policies such as deficit spending to boost “aggregate demand” in downturns and monetary policies such as lowering interest rates to zero and buying assets, a.k.a. quantitative easing. If we crawl under the barbed wire and escape the ideological Keynesian...
Technical Outlook: Whip saw price action yesterday that saw an initial sell-off, followed by the dip buyers coming in and pushing the market higher throughout the afternoon. Overall the volume was extremely light and well below average levels. The doji candle that is shown on SPX marks indecision by the market between buyers and sellers and could signal that the dead cat bounce has topped out and a potential retest of 1812 is a strong possibility. SPX/SPY retested the 20-day moving average yesterday and held onto this MA perfectly. Short-term, the bulls are getting into overbought territory. VIX dropped below 20 to 19.98 yesterday...

Obviously the Central Gold Trust is no longer listed and has ceased to exist. The Sprott Silver Trust has sold some bullion to raise cash and is now well funded. The Central Fund must address their cash position, either through a bullion sale or a secondary offering....
Let’s begin with several charts on China from our friends at RBS as well as other sources. 1. The nation’s reliance on over-investment for growth stands out when compared to other nations. Source: ?@RBS_Economics 2. According to RBS, the economic “rebalancing” has been primarily driven by the financial services sector. Reliance on the financial sector for growth is risky (as we’ve seen in other economies). Source: ?@RBS_Economics 3. China’s corporate debt growth has been spectacular and the debt addiction seems to continue. While credit growth has slowed, it remains above 11% per year. Source: ?@RBS_Econ...
Royal Bank of Scotland warns its clients for a “cataclysmic year”, a deflationary global crisis with oil down to $16 a barrel and a stock market correction with a fifth. J.P. Morgan advises for the first time in 7 years to sell shares on the bounce instead of buy the dip. RBS credit team says all alarm bells are ringing. They see the same stress alerts before the Lehman Brothers crisis in 2008. They said in a client note: “Sell everything except high quality bonds. This is about return of capital, not return on capital. In a crowded hall, exit doors are small,” Both global trade and loans are contracting, a nasty cocktail for corp...
Official recession calls are the responsibility of the NBER Business Cycle Dating Committee, which is understandably vague about the specific indicators on which they base their decisions.
