Here we are with another installment of my “stock considerations” for the upcoming month. With the first week of trading upon us in July, it is time, once again, to lay out a plan for my potential stock picks for the month. As many of you already know, I make sure to purchase at least one stock every single month no matter where we are in a business or macro economic cycle. The goal of every long term dividend growth investor is to remain consistent with their buys and try not to attempt to time the market and wait for the “best” possible time to invest. Time in the market is our single greatest asset that allows for faster compoundin...
Each candle represents a period of one year on the following Yearly chart of the SPX. So far, this year’s candle is a bit less than half of 2016’s trading range and the Momentum indicator is almost as high as it was in 2014 (this year’s trading range is about 60% as high as 2014’s). What this tells me is that, on an annual basis, 2016 is fairly strong at this point and could perform well in the latter half of the year. Each candle represents a period of one quarter on the following Quarterly chart of the SPX. The trading range of this year’s Q2 candle (which closed last Friday) is about 80% of Q1’s ...
A new Morgan Stanley CIO Report is out with a revised list of digitalization winners and losers. The shift to the cloud is increasing and creating a painful new reality for traditional IT vendors, except perhaps Cisco (CSCO). Check it out here. From Becky Peterson, Business Insider, July 1, 2017: As more and more companies transition to the cloud, Oracle and IBM may find themselves in a fight for the bottom. The two technology vendors are set to lose out considerably in IT budgets over the next three years as the result of the shift to cloud, according to the June AlphaWise/Morgan Stanley CIO report. CIOs expect that 46% of their workloads wil...
The Chart of the Day belongs to AxoGen (AXGN). I found the regenerative medicine stock by using Barchart to sort today’s All Time High list first by the highest Weighted Alpha, then again by technical buy signals of 80% or more. Since the Trend Spotter signaled a buy on 4/6 the stock gained 58.77%. AxoGen Corp. is a regenerative medicine company engaged in the development and commercialization of technologies for peripheral nerve reconstruction and regeneration. It offers products for the repair of peripheral nerve injuries. AxoGen Corp was formerly known as LecTec Corporation. The status of Barchart’s Opinion trading system...
Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago President Charles Evans got some attention recently with the following statement: In a world of global competition and new technology, I think competition is coming from new places. New partners are choosing to merge and sort of changing the marketplace and [bringing] more competitive pressures on price margins…If that’s the case, and I think that’s just speculative at this point, then it means that we need even more accommodation to get inflation up. Here are some of the data that might support such a statement. The existence of a Phillips Curve is one of the Fed’s core assumptions: as unemployment g...
Four days every week, from Monday to Thursday, I publish Forex signals (in fact, they are technical analyses) for the seven most popular USD currency pairs. Once they are published, I am not able to update them, and market conditions may change radically. My aim in publishing these signals is to give the best guidance, ideas, and interpretation as possible to Forex traders once each day as the markets open, focusing on intraday trading (day trading), due to its popularity over longer-term trading methods. In my opinion, it is easier for most people to make money trading daily charts, making buy or sell decisions no more than once per day, b...
Remember back in late 2015/early 2016 when everyone was panicking about the Saudi riyal peg after the kingdom cut subsidies in an effort to plug a yawning budget gap? Basically, Riyadh set out to implement austerity as an offset to plunging crude prices and as a means of stanching the attendant SAMA burn. That spooked markets even more than they were already spooked. A dangerous diplomatic incident with Iran (occasioned by the execution of prominent Shia cleric Nimr al-Nimr) didn’t help matters. Before anyone knew it, 12-month riyal forwards had skyrocketed to 1000 points, surpassing a previous record hit in 1999. Well, we’re nowhere near...
The State of Delaware just took a historic step toward ensuring that US stock exchanges will soon be violently disrupted by blockchain technology – possibly to the extent of being rendered obsolete. CoinDesk reports that lawmakers in the state’s general assembly passed a law that makes explicit the right to trade stocks on a blockchain. Details of the bill are still emerging. One source indicated that the bill passed with near unanimity, with a single vote against. The vote was widely considered to be the final obstacle to state adoption, following the passage of the bill in the Senate earlier this month. The measure, which was add...
“Be greedy when others are fearful” is Buffett’s famous saying. And now he has been proved right yet again. The Oracle of Omaha is about to make a snap $12 billion profit on Bank of America (BAC) stock. Six years ago, Buffett invested $5 billion in BAC via a mix of preferred stock and warrants- now the stock has tripled and Buffett intends to exercise the warrants. The acquisition of 700 million common shares would make Berkshire Hathaway BAC’s biggest shareholder- as well as paying out a sweet dividend of about $336 million a year. We can see the news reflected in TipRanks’ Strong Positive news score: So what is the Street saying...
