Adidas continues to signal an interest in NFTs and the metaverse, striking a partnership this month with Ready Player Me, a ‘cross-game avatar platform for the metaverse’.
Adidas Metaverse Announcement
In a news release on Adidas.com, the company announced they’ll launch the ‘world’s first personality based AI generated avatar creation platform‘, using Ready Player Me’s software. The move is in celebration of the launch of the brand’s latest Ozworld collection:
‘Designed to empower and open up the pursuit of self expression for all, the online Ozworld experience enables users to create their unique digital selves, which can then be taken around the web exclusively with Ready Player Me – a cross-app avatar platform for the metaverse that allows anyone to explore virtual worlds with one consistent identity.
This is the first brand partnership that pushes the limits of the platform – offering interoperability in generative avatars with over 1500 different metaverse apps and games.’
Adidas NFT holders will be granted early access to the avatar platform, with the first batch of avatars arriving on April 28th across the metaverse.
Adidas sold $22 million in NFTs in 2021, having minted a collection of 30,000 ‘Into the Metaverse’ NFTs in partnership with the Bored Ape Yacht Club and Punks Comics.
