New Jersey Stock Market Challenge
Fall 2010
October 11, 2010 - December 17,
2010
The New Jersey Council on Economic Education is
proud to offer the New Jersey Stock Market Challenge
to all New Jersey teachers and students. The NJ
Stock Market Challenge is a great way to stimulate
group collaboration and provide students with a
wonderful authentic learning experience.
The NJ Stock Market Challenge is a motivating and
engaging online stock market simulation that teaches
students about the American economic system and
global economy. Students in grades 3-12 invest a
hypothetical $100,000 in stocks and mutual funds for
a period of 10 weeks. Students use the internet to
research companies, enter trades at real-time
prices, and check their rankings which are updated
every few minutes. During this
period, the students analyze the news, strengthen
their computer and math skills, work together in
teams to make group decisions, and enjoy the
excitement of competing against other teams in their
grade level. At the end of the challenge, the top 3
teams with the highest portfolio values from each
division (elementary, middle, and high school), are invited to attend an awards luncheon
and are awarded prizes!
